Henry Engberg’s photograph is the earliest of three images of Coleman Glacier exhibited in Vanishing Ice. Here, the glacier has advanced far into the valley, where a group of hikers admires the scene. Other photographs of this view by Eliot Porter and Brett Baunton show the glacier from slightly different locations and reveal how much ice has been lost in the last century.
